Easy to comprehend,
Steven D. Farmer will become the next big spiritual counsellor. Read his
book Earth Magic: Ancient Shamanic Wisdom for Healing Yourself,
Others and the Planet and his spirituality, intellect and honesty
will shine through like rays of wisdom just waiting to be absorbed by
the reader.
Steven D. Farmer, part
of the Hay House team, seems to be a perfect combination for spiritual
wisdom as he is a shamanic practitioner, ordained minister and licensed
psychotherapist. Previously Farmer has written books about Animal spirit
guides and the power of animals, but in Earth Magic, Farmer has
gone to the source of nourishment for both animals and humanity. Farmer
makes a very clear distinction between being a Shamanic Practitioner and
being a Shaman as the former is based in teachings and learning, while
the latter is a birthright. Through his Shamanic learning, Farmer has
discovered more about the earth and its internal wisdom and grace than
many of us can even imagine or connect with.
Earth Magic is
part life journey on Farmer’s part, part spiritual understanding and a
paramount amount of this book is based in logic, listening and
understanding. Farmer has a connection to Mother Earth, with logic and
passion, that is second to none. His logic carries the reader through
the pages. This book is the perfect guide to life, both healthy living
for humanity and for the possibility of allowing the earth to self
replenish and rejuvenate.
Towards the end of Earth
Magic, Farmer’s ideas about the Earth’s wisdom, and our own,
culminate to an understanding of how we “make Mother Earth sick” and how
we can stop doing so. Farmer gives Mother Earth a lot of credit as she
has great resilience and can renew herself provided she is given the
chance to do so. Earth Magic is both acknowledging of the dire
consequences of our actions upon the Earth and also very hopeful for the
ability for progress and change.
One aspect of Earth
Magic that is fantastic and exceptionally spiritual are the prayers
Farmer had for the different rituals; they are very beautiful and
spiritual. This is one of my favourite spiritual books of 2009. Earth
Magic should exist on the bookshelf of anyone who is searching for a
connection to the earth or an understanding of its current
circumstances.
